Made it to SoCal! i made it to southern california - only took uhm, almost, = 15 hours from ny --> ca door to door, thanks to hurricane charley. i'm not complaining. i recognize that my temporary discomfort from waiting 2.5 hours for my plane to take off does not even compare, is unmentionable in the same sentence as people who've lost their homes, life's savings, or lives. just wanted to mark that i'd made it - and i'm just so happy so happy - there aren't words - i'm kissing sunshine every chance i get - the peace, the lush greenery, the arid but not scorching hot desert air. the campus is completely flat, and i'm walking there and back every day, several times a day, just like a USED to do before i got stuck at CU... i've already hinted that i won't be returning to upstate cow-country - especially not after going to a REAL farmer's market, getting gorgeous red peppers for $0.25 each, lettuce for $0.59 each (not wacked out $1.59) etc.. i don't have internet access in my apartment, which is frankly liberating, and an unaccounted for blessing. in retrospect, i realize how much my life was shrinking, the longer i'd stayed plugged into my DSL at home - but then again when the weather is partly cloudy, and RAINS every friggin' day, whatelse is a grrl to do but take solace in escaping into virtual world - so, for the moment, i'm befriending the tons of rabbits proliferating on campus, along with birds, crickets, quiet, peace - i'm loving being in a community where i've got a fresh slate and know nothing about the ugly histories, nor have a messy history, with any one here. okay - off to make a picnic lunch for a meeting with mia (i LOVE that name) and enjoy fresh healthy meals under the cover of palmtrees - no lie! loving, me and yes, feeling f*cking FREE from the bullshit drama of smallICville, USA - depressed, unhappy, self-absorbed walking under the covered cloud of too much therapy, navel-gazing congratulatory liberalism, guilt for destructive bourgie tendencies - how i love slammin' that place from here :--) i'm free i'm free i'm free i'm freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
